The Golden North Hotel
The Golden North Hotel is believed to be haunted by two ghosts. One of the ghosts, who the employees call “Mary”, is believed to be a young woman who had died of pneumonia in the hotel. She was supposed to be waiting for her husband who was on a gold-prospecting project when this happened. This area had been one of the drop off points for those in the Yukon gold rush. ”Mary” is believed to haunt room 23 of the Golden North Hotel. Guests staying in that room have said they see the images of a woman suddenly appear. Guests have also said they have felt like they were being choked in the middle of the night.
In room 14 guests have reported seeing paranormal “light forms” that move across the room during the night. The source of this light is unknown, but many believe it to be another ghost. Those wanting to stay in rooms 14 or 23 have to book the rooms in advance in order to experience the paranormal hauntings that occur in these two rooms.
