Haunted World

The Dead Children’s Playground is located in Maple Hill Cemetery.  This is Alabama’s largest and oldest known cemetery dating back to 1822.  Maple Hill Cemetery is as massive at its long history with over 100 acres of grounds.  In such old and large places the chances of paranormal activity is much greater.  

The Dead Children’s Playground is nestled in a small area of the cemetery with rock cliffs on three sides.  This means you may not want to wander around here at night without a flashlight.  During the day this area is quite charming, but during the night this small playground takes on a very different nature.

Some believe the haunting of the Dead Children’s Playground began in the 1960’s.  During this time there were a large number of child abductions and murders that occurred.  It’s believed the bodies were found in or around the area of the playground.  That in and of itself is terrible, and strange things have been happening ever since.  If you go into the Dead Children’s Playground between the hours of 10 PM and 3 AM you may be in for a shock when unusual events start occurring.

There have been reports of children’s laughter and even children’s voices.  The swings will randomly move in perfect sequence with each other even after being forcefully stopped.  There’s also been reports of sand suddenly blowing up as if someone or something had just jumped off of the swings.  Pictures taken of the swings have been known to show orbs and circles of light- strangely enough just about the size of small children. 

Back in 2007 the Maple Hill Cemetery tore down the playground in order to increase the grounds of the cemetery, but the public wouldn’t have it.  After the public distress, the city decided to put new playground equipment in where the old playground had been located, but this has not stopped the paranormal activity located here.  The Alabama Paranormal Society decided to look into the Dead Children’s Playground in January of 2008.  During this investigation one person heard the voice of a women or small child.  After hearing the voice the investigator quickly shot a photo, which later revealed a misty figure of a woman.  Many orbs were also captured that night.

Is the Dead Children’s Playground haunted?  It’s tough to say, but I don’t anyone can deny that strange things definitely occur in this small playground at night.
