Indian Meadows

Indian Meadows is a small community located in Adamsville, Alabama.  Indian Meadows, along with its sister community Shady Grove both lie above old Cherokee Indian burial grounds.  There have been numerous hauntings here over the years. A lot of people have reported seeing dark figures seamlessly wandering around the woods at night all along the outer limits of the town.  Along with seeing figures there have also been cases of strange scratching noises coming from the outsides of homes late at night.  One man heard scratching noises coming from his front porch one night.  Eager to find what was causing the racket, he went outside and turned on the porch lights.  After thoroughly searching he could not find anything outside and out of the ordinary.  He reportedly did this several times during the night after hearing the scratches.  The next morning when he got up there were claw marks all along the banister of his front porch he had not seen the night before.

Those who walk outside late at night always feel as though someone is following and watching them, but as soon they turn around to see whose following them there is never anyone there.  There are also reports of strange figures dashing by windows suddenly and then vanishing.  Along with figures outside, the locals have reported hearing footsteps in their homes at night, and doors slamming shut for no reason.  The locals have also heard sounds as if someone was actually running through their homes.  Even more chilling, people have reported hearing their own names called out in the dark of the night.  Electrical equipment has also been known to turn on and off without anyone touching them.

The most chilling story to come out of Indian Meadows occurred in one local’s home.  One day a crying man’s face suddenly appeared on numerous doors all throughout a house.  It seemed to have happened all at once without any explanation.  Indian Meadows is believed to be haunted by the dead Cherokee Indians who had been buried here.  With so many reports of paranormal activity this may be a prime location to go off on a ghost expedition of your own.
