Badarka Road
Located in South Birchwood is Badarka Road. It’s said that a father took his daughter out into the woods one day to cut fire wood. While cutting with his axe the man needed to do something and had to leave the axe behind. He decided to put the axe into a tree so that his daughter wouldn’t fall on it or start swining it. His daughter was always the helpful type so while her father was off she decided to try to get the axe down and cut some wood while her father was gone. As she tried to get the axe down it fell and hit her directly on the head- killing her instantly.
When the father returned he saw his daughter dead on the ground bleeding profusely. The father refused to leave his lifeless daughter and stayed with her for days and nights out in the cold. After some time in the cold the father died of hypothermia. The story goes that if you head out to the spot where they both died at around 3:30 AM, you can see the father holding his daughter out in the snow.
